Quick Answer

What is an Importer Exporter Code (IEC) and who issues it in Kandanchavadi, Chennai?

IEC is a 10-character alphanumeric business identification number issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Department of Commerce, under Section 7 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act 1992. Since 1-July-2017 the IEC is the same as the entity's PAN, but it must be separately activated on the DGFT portal at dgft.gov.in. Without an active IEC no person can import into or export from India.

Why FilingPro?

Why Kandanchavadi Clients Choose FilingPro

Expert IEC in Kandanchavadi — qualified professionals, 15+ years experience, zero-penalty track record.

IEC Issued Instantly

Every ANF-2A is reviewed for PAN-bank-address consistency before submission. Kandanchavadi clients with clean validation receive the 10-character IEC within minutes of the ₹500 fee payment — no officer routing.

Aadhaar OTP Authentication Hand-Holding

The proprietor, partner, director or authorised signatory is walked through Aadhaar OTP authentication on dgft.gov.in in real time. Kandanchavadi clients never face the deactivation risk of incomplete e-KYC.

FT(D&R) Act Section 7 Compliance

Before any shipment we confirm the Kandanchavadi client's IEC is live and updated — Section 7 FT(D&R) compliance and Section 11(2) Customs Act exposure both eliminated. No surprise penalties up to 5× value of goods.

Annual Update Calendar Maintained

FilingPro maintains the annual update calendar for every Kandanchavadi client. Updates are filed in April-May without waiting for the June deadline — no automatic deactivation, no customs clearance disruption on 1-July.

RCMC From the Right EPC

Sector-specific councils take precedence — APEDA, MPEDA, EEPC, AEPC, CHEMEXCIL, PHARMEXCIL, GJEPC. For multi-product or unspecified sectors, FIEO general RCMC is obtained. Right council selected on day one for each Kandanchavadi exporter.

AD Code at Every Port

AD Code is one-time registered at every Customs port from where the Kandanchavadi exporter intends to ship — Chennai, Tuticorin, Bangalore Air, Mumbai JNPT or any LCS / ICD. Without AD Code mapping at a port, no shipping bill can be filed at that port.

RoDTEP scrips credit to the Kandanchavadi exporter's RoDTEP ledger on ICEGATE on each shipping bill closure — transferable, monetisable and applied against any duty payable. Appendix 4R rates pre-mapped to HS codes.
Duty Drawback Claimed Concurrently
Drawback All Industry Rates under Section 75 Customs Act 1962 read with Drawback Rules 2017 claimed concurrently with RoDTEP for the non-overlapping component. Brand rates filed where AIR is inadequate for Kandanchavadi manufacturer-exporters.
EPCG Capital Goods Duty-Free
Kandanchavadi manufacturer-exporters import capital goods at zero customs duty under EPCG with 6× export obligation over 6 years. Bond and BG with Customs executed and EO discharge tracked through redemption.

IEC Registration in Kandanchavadi, Chennai 600096

Statutory correspondence for Kandanchavadi businesses routes through the Mylapore Division, so we align every IEC Registration engagement to that jurisdiction from the start. Every Kandanchavadi engagement we open begins with the basics: PIN 600096, the Mylapore Division, and the coordinates 12.9690, 80.2440 that anchor the locality. The 600xx geo-zone covering Kandanchavadi groups several locality clusters under common administration, keeping documentation expectations predictable. Records we prepare for Kandanchavadi carry the geo-zone 600xx tag and coordinates 12.9690, 80.2440, which map each submission back to this locality.

The businesses clustered around Tidel Park (nearby) in Kandanchavadi drive the bulk of the IEC Registration workload we see each cycle. Working in Kandanchavadi brings a logistical edge: proximity to Tidel Park (nearby) and the Kandanchavadi Bus Stop corridor keeps physical document handling fast. Document pickup near Tidel Park (nearby) is a same-hour errand for our Kandanchavadi engagements rather than the half-day a typical Chennai client expects. Freight and foot traffic from the Kandanchavadi Bus Stop hub pull steady daily commerce through Kandanchavadi, so there is rarely a quiet filing month in this it corridor omr start pocket.

For a hospitality business in Kandanchavadi, the IEC Registration scope is rarely generic; we tailor the checklist to how that sector actually transacts. Sector concentration matters: when Kandanchavadi leans toward hospitality, the IEC risks cluster around the same few line items each cycle. Because Kandanchavadi hosts a cluster of hospitality businesses, we benchmark each new IEC Registration engagement against patterns we already track for the locality. The hospitality firms we serve in Kandanchavadi value a IEC partner who already understands their sector's compliance rhythm.

Every IEC file we open for Kandanchavadi is reconciled, reviewed by a qualified practitioner, and archived for seven years. A Kandanchavadi client sees the same IEC cadence each cycle: intake, reconciliation, review, filing, acknowledgement. We keep a repeatable IEC checklist for Kandanchavadi so nothing in the cycle is improvised or missed. Document intake for Kandanchavadi clients runs over WhatsApp, so there is no office visit and no paper shuffle for a IEC Registration engagement.

IEC Registration clients in Sholinganallur are handled by the same practitioners who run our Kandanchavadi desk. A client relocating between Kandanchavadi and Sholinganallur keeps the same IEC file and the same team. Businesses straddling Kandanchavadi and Sholinganallur get a single IEC point of contact rather than two. Coverage from Kandanchavadi naturally extends to Sholinganallur, so group entities across the area share one IEC Registration workflow.

The longer we serve Kandanchavadi, the more precisely we predict where a IEC file needs attention. Recurring gaps in Kandanchavadi e-commerce records are the first thing our IEC Registration review closes out. Over several cycles in Kandanchavadi, the recurring IEC Registration issues cluster around a predictable short list we screen for early. Patterns we track for Kandanchavadi include e-commerce documentation gaps, timing mismatches, and the questions the Mylapore Division tends to raise.

When a Adyar business expands into Kandanchavadi, we extend its IEC setup to PIN 600096 without disruption. For a new business incorporating in Kandanchavadi or shifting its principal place of business here, IEC Registration setup is one of the first things to get right. New hospitality ventures in Kandanchavadi lean on us to stand up IEC Registration correctly before the first deadline rather than after a notice. We onboard new Kandanchavadi entities onto a IEC Registration cadence that is audit-ready from the very first cycle.

People Also Ask — IEC in Kandanchavadi
Who needs an IEC in India?
Every person undertaking import into or export from India must hold an IEC under Section 7 of the FT(D&R) Act 1992 and Para 2.05 of FTP 2023. Service exporters technically need IEC only to claim FTP benefits, but practically every AD bank and payment aggregator insists on a live IEC for inward foreign-currency receipts. Government departments, personal-use imports, gifts up to USD 5,000 and notified charitable imports are exempt under Para 2.07.
How long does IEC issuance take on the DGFT portal?
Where PAN, Aadhaar and bank details validate cleanly, IEC is issued instantly — typically within minutes of payment of the ₹500 fee. If any field fails validation the application is routed for officer review and disposed within 1-2 working days. The certificate is downloadable from the dgft.gov.in dashboard and emailed to the registered address.
Is IEC the same as PAN now?
Yes. Since DGFT Public Notice 27/2015-20 dated 8-Aug-2018 the IEC has been merged with PAN — the 10-character alphanumeric PAN of the entity is the IEC. One PAN equals one IEC across India and the same number is used by all branches of the entity. The IEC must still be separately activated on dgft.gov.in.
What is the annual update requirement for IEC?
Para 2.05(e) of FTP 2023 mandates electronic update of IEC particulars every year between 1-April and 30-June, even if no details have changed. There is no fee. Failure to update results in automatic deactivation of IEC on 1-July, blocking all customs clearances on ICEGATE until reactivation through the Update IEC option on dgft.gov.in.
Is RCMC mandatory in addition to IEC?
For mere import or export, no — IEC alone is sufficient. For claim of any benefit under FTP 2023 — RoDTEP, RoSCTL, EPCG, Advance Authorisation, status holder recognition or duty exemption — Para 2.59 of FTP 2023 makes RCMC from a designated EPC or commodity board mandatory. FIEO issues a general RCMC for multi-product exporters; sector-specific councils (APEDA, MPEDA, EEPC, AEPC, etc.) take precedence.
What is the penalty for importing or exporting without IEC?
Section 11(2) of the Customs Act 1962 read with Section 11(2A) attracts confiscation of goods and a penalty equal to the value of the goods. Section 11 of the FT(D&R) Act 1992 prescribes monetary penalty up to five times the value of the goods or ₹1,000 whichever is higher, plus denial of FTP incentives and possible appearance on the DGFT denied entity list.
How much does IEC registration cost?

The government fee for a fresh IEC on the DGFT portal is ₹500, and annual updation is free. Professional fees for document preparation, DSC or Aadhaar authentication and AD Code registration are separate and depend on the scope of assistance.

What documents are required to apply for an IEC?

You need the firm's PAN, proof of establishment or incorporation, address proof of the business premises, a cancelled cheque or bank certificate for the current account, and the applicant's Aadhaar for e-Sign or a Class 3 DSC for authentication.

How long does it take to get an IEC?

With Aadhaar e-Sign and complete documents, an IEC is usually issued within one to two working days of a clean DGFT application. Delays arise from PAN-name mismatches, unverified bank details, or an inactive mobile or email on the profile.

Do I need to renew or update my IEC every year?

The IEC is permanent, but the Foreign Trade Policy 2023 requires electronic confirmation or updation every year during April to June, even when nothing has changed. Missing this deactivates the IEC and blocks customs clearance until it is updated.

Is IEC required if I already have GST registration?

GSTIN and IEC serve different purposes. Customs validates the IEC on shipping bills and bills of entry, so an IEC is generally required for goods import or export regardless of GST. Some service transactions are exempt, but incentive claims usually still need an IEC.

Can one PAN have more than one IEC?

No. Only one IEC is allotted per PAN under the Foreign Trade Policy 2023. If a firm inadvertently holds a duplicate, the extra IEC must be surrendered through ANF 2A; DGFT may otherwise suspend the codes until the duplication is resolved.

What is IEC and its statutory basis

PAN-based IEC and one-IEC-per-PAN rule

Following DGFT Notification 09/2015-20 dated 12-June-2017, IEC numbers are now identical to the holder's PAN, replacing the earlier system of distinct 10-digit codes. The one-IEC-per-PAN rule means that a single entity (proprietorship, partnership, LLP, company, society, HUF) cannot hold multiple IECs. Where group entities share a common promoter family, each separate legal person obtains its own PAN-linked IEC. This architecture aligns with the post-GST trade-identity rationalisation and integrates IEC with GSTIN, ICEGATE and the AD-bank reporting ecosystems for end-to-end traceability of trade transactions.

Validity, modification and deactivation

IEC, once issued, has no expiry — but DGFT Notification 58/2015-20 dated 12-Feb-2021 introduced a mandatory annual confirmation/update window between April and June each year. Failure to confirm IEC details (even where there is no change) results in automatic deactivation; deactivated IECs are blocked at ICEGATE for shipping-bill filing and at AD banks for remittance processing. Modifications (change of address, directors, authorised signatory, bank account) are filed via the DGFT portal with applicable supporting documentation and Digital Signature Certificate of the authorised signatory.

Section 7 of FTDR Act 1992

The Import Export Code (IEC) is a 10-digit identification number issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade under Section 7 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act 1992. The FTDR Act 1992 replaced the older Imports and Exports (Control) Act 1947 and established a statutory framework that emphasises trade promotion over trade control. Section 7 of the FTDR Act makes IEC mandatory for any person undertaking the import or export of goods, with limited exemptions notified by the Central Government. The IEC number, once issued, is permanent and is linked to the Permanent Account Number of the holder under the rationalisation introduced by DGFT Notification 09/2015-20 dated 12-June-2017. The Foreign Trade Policy 2023, which replaced FTP 2015-20 with effect from 01-April-2023, continues the FTDR-Act-based architecture and consolidates IEC issuance, modification, and deactivation rules in Chapter 1 and the Handbook of Procedures.

Status Holder recognition under FTP 2023

Procedural concessions to Status Holders

Status Holders enjoy procedural concessions including: self-declaration of country of origin on Certificate of Origin (subject to FTA-specific rules); preferential treatment in customs clearance (Authorised Economic Operator linkage); exemption from compulsory negotiation of documents through banks for specified categories; 100% EEFC retention (Three Star and above); two-year warehousing period without renewal; reduced bank guarantee requirements for FTP scheme authorizations; faster issuance of various DGFT authorizations.

Double-weightage categories

Certain categories receive double weightage for Status Holder qualification under FTP 2023 paragraph 1.27(c): exports by MSME units, manufacturer exporters, units in North-Eastern States, exports under Towns of Export Excellence (TEE), and exports by units in Agri Export Zones. Double weightage means that USD 1 of qualifying exports counts as USD 2 for threshold computation — substantially accelerating Star qualification for MSMEs and notified categories. Service exports also have a parallel Status Holder framework with USD-denominated thresholds.

Authorised Economic Operator linkage

Status Holders qualifying as One Star or above are eligible to apply for Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status under CBIC's AEO programme, which itself is aligned with the WCO SAFE Framework of Standards and the WTO Agreement on Trade Facilitation 2017. AEO has three tiers (T1, T2, T3) with progressively richer benefits including deferred duty payment, faster customs clearance, dedicated relationship manager, and mutual recognition with AEO programmes of partner countries. The IEC + Status Holder + AEO stack represents the highest tier of trade-facilitation recognition in India.

Free Trade Agreements and Rules of Origin

India's FTA network in 2026

India's bilateral and regional FTA network as of 2026 includes operational agreements with ASEAN, Japan (CEPA), South Korea (CEPA), Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, Singapore, Mauritius (CECPA), UAE (CEPA 2022), Australia (ECTA 2022), EFTA (TEPA 2024), and several preferential trading arrangements. Negotiations with the UK, EU, Canada, and Oman are at various stages. Each FTA notifies tariff concessions (Schedule of Specific Commitments) and a specific Rules of Origin (RoO) chapter that determines whether a product qualifies as originating in India for tariff concession in the partner country.

Certificate of Origin under FTAs

Certificate of Origin (CoO) under FTAs is the documentary basis for claiming preferential tariff in the partner country. CoOs are issued by designated agencies (Export Inspection Council, DGFT regional offices, EEPC India, FIEO, chambers of commerce, depending on the FTA). DGFT's e-CoO platform (coo.dgft.gov.in) issues digitally signed certificates accepted by FTA-partner customs authorities. Each FTA has specific Product Specific Rules (PSR) — Regional Value Content thresholds, Change in Tariff Heading, or specific manufacturing-process requirements.

CAROTAR Rules 2020 — origin verification

The Customs (Administration of Rules of Origin under Trade Agreements) Rules 2020 (CAROTAR) operationalise origin verification for imports into India under FTA preferential rates. Importers must possess sufficient information to demonstrate that the goods qualify under the FTA Rules of Origin — a similar level of rigour is increasingly applied by FTA-partner countries to Indian exports. Exporters should maintain a structured origin file per export consignment including bill of materials, supplier declarations, manufacturing-process flowcharts, and RVC computations.

WTO framework and India's commitments

Trade remedy framework — anti-dumping and safeguards

India's Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR, formed in 2018 by merging DGAD and DGS) administers anti-dumping, countervailing duty, and safeguard investigations under the Customs Tariff Act 1975 Sections 9, 9A, and 8B respectively. Indian exporters face anti-dumping investigations in destination markets — the US Section 201 tariffs on solar cells, EU anti-dumping on Indian stainless steel, and similar measures are illustrative. Active participation in destination-country investigations through legal representation is critical to securing favourable individual margins or exclusions.

WTO Agreement on Trade Facilitation 2017

The WTO Agreement on Trade Facilitation (TFA) entered into force on 22-February-2017 after the requisite ratification threshold was met. India ratified TFA on 22-April-2016. The TFA mandates simplification of customs procedures, advance rulings, electronic payments, transparency in fees and formalities, and Single Window systems. India's compliance roadmap is implemented through the National Committee on Trade Facilitation (NCTF) and the National Trade Facilitation Action Plan. The Indian Single Window for trade (SWIFT) and the e-Sanchit document-upload platform are key TFA-compliance artefacts.

WTO ITA-II and electronics tariffs

The Information Technology Agreement (ITA-I, 1996) and the expansion ITA-II (2015) are WTO plurilateral agreements eliminating tariffs on a specified list of IT and electronics products. India is a party to ITA-I but has not joined ITA-II — a position driven by domestic electronics-manufacturing policy objectives. The ITA-II non-participation means Indian exporters of certain electronics enjoy zero-duty access to ITA-II member markets (the agreement is MFN-applied) while India retains tariff space on inbound electronics for domestic-industry protection. This asymmetry is a strategic feature of India's WTO posture.

Industry-specific patterns in Kandanchavadi

How the local trade mix shapes this — Across Kandanchavadi, the cluster of it services, e-commerce, hospitality businesses that defines Kandanchavadi's commercial fabric.

Handicrafts and Handloom Exports
Common issue: Handloom exporters benefiting from the Handloom Export Promotion Council (HEPC) sometimes export through merchant exporters and miss out on direct-export benefits. The principle of 'third-party exports' under FTP 2023 paragraph 2.42 allows the manufacturer to claim FTP benefits if shipping bill carries both IECs.
How we handle it: Where third-party export is used, ensure shipping bill mentions both manufacturer and merchant-exporter IECs; route eBRC accordingly; benefits like RoDTEP can then be claimed by the manufacturer. Direct exports are administratively simpler — encourage own-IEC export over time.
Agri and Spices Exports
Common issue: Spice and agri-product exporters need APEDA registration (for processed food and agri-products) or Spices Board registration (for spice exports) in addition to IEC. The APEDA Act 1985 makes APEDA registration compulsory for scheduled products; absence of APEDA RCMC means shipping bills are flagged at Customs.
How we handle it: Apply for APEDA registration-cum-membership certificate via apeda.gov.in; for spices, obtain Certificate of Registration as Exporter of Spices (CRES) from Spices Board under the Spices Board Act 1986. Both are valid for life subject to fee renewal.
Agri and Spices Exports
Common issue: Organic-certified exporters under the National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP) administered by APEDA frequently face importing-country residue-limit rejections (EU MRL, US-FDA Action Level) despite IEC and APEDA being in place. The certification covers production but not always export-time testing.
How we handle it: Pre-shipment lab testing through APEDA-empanelled labs is mandatory for several categories; maintain residue-analysis certificates per consignment; the TraceNet portal of APEDA must be updated for organic shipments. Non-compliance leads to RASFF/Import Alert listings that suspend exports.
Gems and Jewellery Exports
Common issue: Diamond and gold-jewellery exporters operating under the Replenishment Authorization Scheme (FTP 2023 Chapter 4) and Diamond Imprest Authorization require IEC plus Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) RCMC. Many small jewellers underestimate the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) compliance for rough diamonds.
How we handle it: Obtain GJEPC RCMC; for rough diamonds, ensure KPCS certificate accompanies each import/export consignment; for studded jewellery, comply with Hallmarking and Section 49 of the Customs Act 1962 declarations. SEZ-based units under SEZ Act 2005 have a separate compliance set.
Gems and Jewellery Exports
Common issue: Personal-carriage exports of jewellery (common for trade-fair participation in Hong Kong, Dubai, Las Vegas) require specific Customs procedure under Notification 50/2017-Customs and prior intimation. Several exporters carry samples without proper documentation and face seizure at Indian airports.
How we handle it: Use the personal-carriage shipping-bill route; obtain GJEPC endorsement and Customs prior intimation; carry the IEC, RCMC and KPCS certificates in physical form. For unsold goods returning, file re-import documentation under Section 20 of the Customs Act 1962 to avoid duty.

IEC Annual UpdatePharmaceuticals

Pharmaceutical Exporter IEC Update Lapse Reactivation

Issue: A mid-sized pharma exporter missed the annual IEC update window (April-June) and discovered deactivation only when a USD 380,000 shipment was held at ICEGATE in early August. The European buyer imposed demurrage of USD 4,200 per day. Bank also held foreign inward remittance for an unrelated transaction.
Approach: Immediate filing of IEC modification with current particulars on dgft.gov.in along with declaration of no change. Simultaneous communication to customs at port requesting provisional clearance against bond pending IEC reactivation. Coordinated with bank for FIRC release upon IEC restoration confirmation.
Outcome: IEC reactivated within 4 working days; shipment cleared on day 6. Demurrage cost limited to USD 25,200 against potential cancellation of USD 380,000 order. Installed annual diary reminder for future compliance.
RCMCLeather Goods

Leather Goods Exporter RCMC Lapse Incentive Recovery

Issue: Leather goods exporter claimed RoDTEP and Duty Drawback aggregating INR 22 lakh across 14 shipping bills. Subsequent post-clearance audit revealed RCMC with Council for Leather Exports had expired before 9 of those shipments. Recovery proposed with 18% interest.
Approach: Demonstrated that RCMC renewal application was filed before expiry but issuance was delayed by EPC office. Produced acknowledgement of renewal application and proof of payment. Cited Asahi India Glass on substantive vs procedural compliance and DGFT trade notices recognising continuity of RCMC during pending renewal.
Outcome: Recovery proposal dropped for 7 shipments where renewal application was on record before expiry. Limited liability of INR 4.8 lakh for 2 shipments where even application was post-expiry. Net saving INR 17.2 lakh.
EOU De-bondingMarine Products

Marine Products Exporter EOU De-bonding

Issue: Export-Oriented Unit producing frozen seafood sought de-bonding after completing 5-year lock-in. Customs raised demand of INR 1.9 crore for duty foregone on imported capital goods and consumables and SCN for non-fulfilment of NFE obligation by INR 70 lakh over 5 years.
Approach: Reconstructed NFE computation across 5 years showing aggregate positive NFE of INR 3.4 crore based on revised export FOB recognition under FTP 2023. Filed detailed reply with statutory auditor's NFE certificate. For capital goods, claimed depreciation under Customs Notification 22/2003-CE and de-bonding policy on residual value.
Outcome: NFE shortfall demand dropped; capital goods duty reduced to depreciated residual value of INR 41 lakh against original INR 1.9 crore. Final de-bonding completed in 11 months; saving INR 1.49 crore.
Shipping Bill AmendmentGranite and Stone

Granite Exporter Shipping Bill Amendment for IEC Mismatch

Issue: Granite exporter dispatched 8 shipping bills bearing old IEC even though IEC was modified for change of constitution from proprietorship to private limited company. Customs froze RoDTEP credit of INR 14 lakh and proposed denial of duty drawback for the period of mismatch.
Approach: Filed shipping bill amendment application under Section 149 Customs Act for correction of IEC particulars. Produced board resolution and DGFT modification certificate evidencing seamless succession with same business. Cited Mangalore Refinery v UoI on continuity of beneficial schemes despite procedural reorganisation.
Outcome: Customs allowed amendment for all 8 bills; RoDTEP credit of INR 14 lakh released. Duty drawback approved. Total recovered INR 19.6 lakh within 4 months.

Common Questions

IEC FAQ — Kandanchavadi

Common questions from Kandanchavadi clients. Call 9566-068-468 for specific queries.

Yes. Modifications to entity name (only on PAN change), address, partners/directors, authorised signatory or branch addition are filed through Services > IEC > Update/Modify IEC on dgft.gov.in. Aadhaar OTP authentication is required. A nominal fee of ₹200 applies to certain category modifications under Appendix 2K. Branch offices are added as additional addresses without separate IEC.
The exact list depends on your case, but we send a short, plain-English checklist the moment you engage us — no jargon. Kandanchavadi clients can share documents as phone photos or scans over WhatsApp on 9566-068-468, and we flag immediately if anything is missing.
The application fee notified under Appendix 2K of HBP 2023 is ₹500, paid online through net banking, credit card, debit card or UPI on the DGFT portal at the time of submission. The same ₹500 fee applies to fresh issue and to certain modifications. There is no fee for the mandatory annual update or for surrender.
Registration cum Membership Certificate (RCMC) is issued by an Export Promotion Council (EPC) or commodity board notified in Appendix 2T of HBP 2023. Para 2.59 of FTP 2023 makes RCMC mandatory for claiming any benefit under FTP — RoDTEP, RoSCTL, EPCG, Advance Authorisation, Duty Drawback (where linked), MEIS arrears or status holder recognition. Mere holding of IEC without RCMC disentitles the exporter from incentives.
Yes — we work comfortably in both Tamil and English, which makes explaining IEC Registration to Kandanchavadi clients straightforward. Ask your questions in whichever language you prefer, by call or WhatsApp on 9566-068-468.
Bank Realisation Certificate (BRC) is issued by the AD bank confirming that export proceeds have been received in convertible foreign exchange. Section 8 of FEMA 1999 read with the RBI Master Direction on Export of Goods and Services 2015-16 requires realisation within 9 months of the date of export. BRC is the documentary proof and is mandatory for closure of shipping bills on EDPMS, claim of RoDTEP, drawback and discharge of EPCG / Advance Authorisation export obligations.
Rebate of State and Central Taxes and Levies (RoSCTL) is a parallel remission scheme exclusively for apparel and made-ups under Chapters 61, 62 and 63 of the ITC(HS). Notified by the Ministry of Textiles, RoSCTL rates are higher than RoDTEP for these chapters and are mutually exclusive — an exporter elects either scheme, not both, on each shipping bill.
Yes — we handle IEC Registration for individuals and businesses across Kandanchavadi (PIN 600096) and nearby Adyar. The work is done end-to-end by our own team, with documents collected online over WhatsApp or email and in-person meetings available at our Maduravoyal and Nerkundram offices. Call 9566-068-468 to begin.
Surrender is filed online under Services > IEC > Surrender IEC with reasons. DGFT processes the surrender and intimates Customs and the issuing authority. Pending export obligations under EPCG / Advance Authorisation must be discharged before surrender is accepted. There is no fee.
Yes. SEZ units though deemed to be foreign territory for trade purposes must hold an active IEC for filing Bills of Export, Bills of Entry into the SEZ from DTA and for transactions with overseas buyers. The IEC is also required for opening EEFC accounts and for receipt of export proceeds. SEZ developers and co-developers similarly require IEC.
Yes. Along with Kandanchavadi, we serve Adyar and the wider Chennai South belt for IEC Registration. Wherever you are in this part of Chennai, the process and our 9566-068-468 line stay the same.
Authorised Dealer (AD) Code is the 14-digit code of the exporter's bank branch authorised by RBI to deal in foreign exchange. Under CBIC instructions and the Customs EDI procedure, the AD Code must be one-time registered at every Customs port from where the exporter intends to ship. Without AD Code mapping at a port, no shipping bill can be filed and no IGST refund can be auto-disbursed at that port.
Yes. Section 15 of the FT(D&R) Act provides an appeal to the Appellate Authority (typically the Joint or Additional DGFT) within 45 days of the order, and a further revision to the Central Government under Section 16 within 45 days of the appellate order. Section 9A allows correction of clerical or arithmetical mistakes apparent from the record.
Core documents prescribed in ANF-2A: (i) PAN of the entity, (ii) Aadhaar of the proprietor or authorised signatory for OTP authentication, (iii) cancelled cheque or banker's certificate in the prescribed format showing entity name, account number and IFSC, (iv) address proof of business premises (electricity bill, rent agreement, sale deed or telephone bill not older than two months) and (v) DSC for partnerships, LLPs and companies along with the board resolution / authorisation.
Sector-specific councils take precedence — APEDA for processed agricultural and food products, MPEDA for marine products, EEPC for engineering goods, AEPC for apparel, CHEMEXCIL for chemicals, PHARMEXCIL for pharmaceuticals, GJEPC for gems and jewellery, CAPEXIL for chemicals/allied. For multi-product exporters or where no specific council exists, the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) issues a general RCMC under Para 2.61 of HBP 2023.

We serve businesses in every part of Kandanchavadi, from 1st Main Road, 3rd Cross, Anna Nedunchalai, Anna Salai and Church Main street to the Nagamani Adigalar Street, Panchayat Main Road, School Road and Taramani Link Road commercial pockets, with IEC handled end to end.
