The FSS Act overrides any inconsistent provisions in the IPC by virtue of Section 89, with the consequence that food-safety prosecutions are now litigated entirely within the FSS Act adjudication regime rather than under the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act 1954 which stands repealed.

Adjudication and appeal procedure
