Sub-section (1) of Section 29 provides that the proper officer may, either on his own motion or on an application filed by the registered person or by his legal heirs in the event of death, cancel the registration in such manner and within such period as may be prescribed. Sub-section (2) of Section 47 attaches a late fee of one hundred rupees per day under each of the CGST and SGST heads, subject to an overall cap of five thousand rupees combined, where a registered person fails to furnish the final return under Section 45 by the due date.
